About Dextel

Phones still run small business.
We make them work after hours.

Dextel AI started in 2024 with a simple thesis: the businesses that drive local economies — dentists, contractors, law firms, agencies — bleed revenue every time a call goes to voicemail. We built the AI agent that picks up, books, and routes — so they stop bleeding.

Our story

Built by people who answered the phones.

Our founders ran service businesses before they wrote software. They watched calls go unanswered at lunch hours, on weekends, and any time a single phone line was already busy. The available answers — call centers, generic IVRs, voicemail-to-email — felt insulting to the caller and lazy to the operator.

When real-time speech models became good enough to hold a natural conversation, we rebuilt the agent from scratch: not a chatbot bolted to a phone number, but an agent that books appointments, transfers warm calls, searches a knowledge base, and writes back to the CRM during the call.

Today, Dextel answers over a million calls a month for solo operators, multi-location franchises, and the agencies that sell to them. We're still small, profitable, and very much on the phones with our customers.

How we work

Four values, no posters.

Outcomes over demos

We measure success in answered calls and booked appointments, not pretty dashboards.

Operators first

Every feature ships with a real customer in mind. If a solo dental office can't set it up in an hour, it isn't done.

Truthful AI

Our agent says "I'll find out" instead of inventing answers. Hallucinations cost customers money.

Stay sharp, stay small

We'd rather be fewer people who own the whole stack than a sprawling team shipping committee work.

Team

Engineers, operators, and a few very patient agents.

Headquartered in San Francisco with people across the US, EU, and LATAM. We hire for craft and care.
